Online casino heads believe 2012 to be the year of online gambling in U.S.

With the recent reevaluation of the Wire Act of 1961 by the U.S., many online casinos are confident in saying that 2012 is to be "the year of online gambling in America," LiveCasinos.co.uk reports.

Up until this monumental new interpretation of the law, federal authorities had been cracking down on online casinos in America that had been operating illegally. However, now more are popping up and there is not much regulators can do about it if states pass laws allowing the activity.

"This is big news for gambling companies based in the States, who previously had their business restricted to traditional casinos... 2012 will be the year of online gaming in America," said Michael Charamlamous, managing director of Live Casinos.

Charmalamous added that with the impending online casino market coming to the U.S., land-based casinos in the states should get prepared to see some decline in activity.

"To avoid opportunistic web entrepreneurs stealing a march on them, casino operators are going to have to be ready to migrate their brand online... and fast," said Charmalamous.

Do you think games like online slots will become popular in the U.S, or do people in here enjoy land based casinos more?
