Gamblers' worst losses could prove to be worth big money

In an attempt to make losers feel like winners in the new year, Slots of Vegas ran a promotion to grant one lucky loser $10,000. The online casino ran a three-month competition that ended December 31 called The Biggest Loser.

Participants were asked to share their best (or worst) loss while gambling either at a land based or online casino. The essays were sent to the site's Facebook fan page where thousands of people shared their lowest moments while playing online slot machines, table games and more.

Viewers of the page were then asked to "like'" their favorite stories, the contestant with the most "likes" was granted the cold hard cash. Although the grand prize earnings weren't given out until just recently, other worthy participants were also given cash throughout the three month period. The winning contestant racked in 50,000 "likes."

According to the site's marketing manager Christopher DiAngelo, the contest was started to bring gambling enthusiasts together over something that many who partake in the activity unfortunately have some experience with.

"Every gambler has at least two great stories, one is their biggest win and the other is almost always their biggest loss," said DiAngelo. "We thought that by sharing the story of your biggest loss, we could give players the opportunity to turn one of their more bitter memories into something sweet."

Do you have a time where you lost big? Would you be willing to share it for a chance to win a cash prize?
